About Me

Hello my name is Abby Sullivan I am in my second year of a BA with a major in History and Minor in PE. I hope to take a B-Ed and teach secondary school. I came to UVic in 2021 studying sociology and felt quite lost and unsure what I wanted to do. I then decided to take time off from school and travel. I had the opportunity to work/volunteer at the boarding school in Australia. Where I coached, helped in the primary school, duty and mentoring in the middle school boarding house, chaperoned many field and school trips. I loved Australia so much that I decided to move to Melbourne for another year. I took a few classes online while I worked and figured out what I wanted to do, and decided to get my pilates instructor certification. As much as I was living my best life, I had stress over me with the difficulties around visas and figuring out finishing school. I have the difficult decision to move back home in hopes to figure out what to do with my life. This was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, and I felt regret for months, but I know that it’s those hard decisions that allow the most growth. From this I have come to the realization that going the education path makes the most sense for me and my future. With my experiences coaching and working in schools, I feel passionate about connecting and making an impact on students. It is one of the most fulfilling feelings to see a student’s growth. I also hope to travel and as an educator you can teach wherever you would like in the world and I would love to experience teaching and living in different places around the world. Immerse myself in different cultures, and experience new things.
